Remote Online Notarization (RON) is an alternative option to the “paper-based”, “in-person” Notarial experience.

The signer and the notary are not required to be  physically present with one another for the notarial act to be considered valid and legal.

Instead, the signer can appear via an audio-video conference.


This course provides the skills necessary become a Remote Online Notary Public, provides information and the requirements to perform notarizations online, as well as information concerning the duties and responsibilities of a Remote Notary Signing Agent.

A California Notary Public ​is a commissioned California state official whose primary responsibility is to substantiate the identity of document signers by proof of satisfactory identification.


Notaries also take fingerprints, administer oaths and affirmations, and affix the official state Notary Seal.
